IT Manager

So this time we have great opportunity for a proven IT Manager to join our fast growing business. 

The IT Manager will report directly to our IT Director and will be responsible for ensuring that IT services provided to CPL Training Group are to the highest standard, using the best possible methods of support. 

The IT Manager will be hands on with the day to day management of our infrastructure, with support of the other IT team members, whom of which you would be responsible for managing. The IT Manager will also lead on high profile IT projects within the business.  

The objectives of the IT Manager, are: 

•      Work on large/long-term IT projects which involve the research and development of new technologies and applications with the view to enhancing the IT infrastructure of the group. 

•      Build excellent relationships with other technical departments to deliver successfully on IT projects. 

•      Maintain the company servers and ensure they are running correctly periodically to provide a stable and reliable platform for the business and assist with improving processes in these areas.

•      Maintain the network infrastructure ensuring smooth and provide suggestions for improvement, upgrades, network monitoring tools.  

•      Working with staff to understand and resolve technical issues, fix and maintain equipment, such as servers, laptops and PC’s, assisting with system upgrades and setting up new devices and users including active directory, managing mailboxes and accounts within Office 365 etc. Along with identifying the need for system and equipment updates.

•      Maintain and repair of hardware and equipment within the business, including mobile phones.

•      To ensure IT support is provided to internal and external staff and customers, ensuring that any installation and configuration of computer hardware operating systems and applications are carried out effectively. 

•      Responsible for installation, commissioning and ongoing maintenance of Windows servers, and network devices (Firewalls, switches, load balancers etc.). 

•      Manage and oversee the IT Support team and provide coaching and guidance when required.  Assisting the IT support team in identifying network problems and diagnosing and solving hardware/software faults. 

•      Ensure the IT Support team are setting up new users, accounts, profiles and dealing with any user related issues promptly and ensuring any delays are communicated effectively. 

•      Ensure security requirements are met to protect data and systems from viruses, threats, and to ensure compliance with Data Protection Laws.

•      Monitor IT expenditure across the organisation, supporting the IT Director in managing the IT budgets and expenditures

•      Keep up to date with new technology to ensure the team are utilising the best available methods. 

•      Any necessary additional duties as required.

To be a good IT Manager at CPL, you’ll need: 

•      Proven experience in a similar role 

•      Previous experience with team management. 

•      Experience in successfully delivering IT projects

•      Experience managing and supporting Windows Desktops 

•      Experience managing and supporting Windows Active Directory domains & trusts

•      Experience with Office 365 deployments including Hybrid and Single Sign on

•      Experience configuring Routers, Firewalls & Switches

•      Experience configuring IIS Web Services

•      Experience with supporting Mac products would advantageous but not essential 

•      Experience with Microsoft Azure (IaaS and PaaS) as well as experience with Linux servers would be advantageous but not essential 

•      Experience installing and configuring SQL Server & Always on Availability Groups would be advantageous but not essential 

•      Qualifications such as MSCA, MCSE would be advantageous but not essential 


SALARY:       £28,000- £32,000 dependent upon experience

CONTRACT TYPE:       permanent upon successful completion of probation period       

HOURS:       9.00am – 5.30pm, with a one-hour unpaid lunch break, although occasional overtime may be required when working on high profile projects.
